Description:
CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ?Grants for Violence-Related Injury Prevention Research: Youth Violence, Suicidal Behavior, Child Maltreatment, Intimate Partner Violence, and Sexual Violence.? $1,680,000 [this amount is an estimate, and subject to the availability of funds] will be available in fiscal year 2005 to fund approximately five to six awards. The purposes of the program are to: (1) Solicit research applications that address the priorities reflected under the heading, ?Research Objectives?. (2) Build the scientific base for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries and related disabilities. (3) Encourage professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines of epidemiology, behavioral and social sciences, medicine, biostatistics, public health, law, criminal justice, and engineering to perform research in order to prevent and control injuries more effectively. (4) Encourage investigators to propose research that: involves intervention development and testing as well as research on methods; enhances the adoption and maintenance of effective intervention strategies among individuals, organizations, or communities.
